Sclerotherapy for Treating varicose veins and Spider Veins

Sclerotherapy is a procedure that effectively removes unattractive spider veins and varicose veins. Sclerotherapy is spider veins treatment that involves injection of salt solution to the vein. This irritates the blood vessel lining to make it swell and stick together. This leads to blood clotting after which the vessel becomes scar tissue and fades from view.

Your doctor will first decide if you are eligible for sclerotherapy as pregnant women are not eligible for it, but those on birth control pills are. The eligibility of people who have had blood clots in the past is decided on an individual basis based on the person's overall health and the reason for the blood clot. Even veins that may be used for future bypass surgery is not considered for sclerotherapy.
